Question????????
Its been a long time between posts for me and I know that this is the wrong place for this question, but I am seeking some opinions on what could be a decent road bike for myself and the bride.
We are not interested in any sports bikes as we prefer the up right riding position compared to the lay over, lower back and wrist killing bikes. Cruisers no thanks, that style should only be reserved for Harleys. Jap Harley look a likes are a bit try hard.
I have done some minimal research and like the look of the Honda CBR600F and Kawasaki ER6N and Versy's. I am sure that there are plenty of other bikes from the other stables but at this stage the three mentioned bikes look pretty good.
Probably prefer something with a bit of fairing over a naked, but I do like the look of the ER6N.
Seat height is another thing that I need to be considerate of to cater for Kylie. I would prefer to buy two of the same so some comprimise will have to come into the equation.
CC wise in the mid range CTP price bracket. Around 600cc is good I suppose.
Budget wise will be around $5000.
Any ideas?

Re: Question????????
What about the Veestrom Dan? Good motor with smotth power delivery, low seat height and you can get them reasonably cheap. I had a CNR600F for a while as well, nice bike, good power but unless they have changed they are a sports bike with the lean over the tank carry your weight on your wrists (except under strong acceleration
) riding positions.

Nice looking bike but the CTP kills it. I did a CTP quote on it and it was $500+ p/a.
What ever we decide on will have to be in the 226-725cc range.

Re: Question????????
A Suzuki Bandit of some description would be good I reckon. Lots of parts and mods available, cheap, reliable and easy to work on.

Re: Question????????
my brother Dan..
a mate of mine has a cbr600f and it would be the pick i reckon
and you KNOW my feelings about honda's
i dunno about the others but the honda has "conventional 7/8th" handlebars
my mate has renthal bars on his with bar risers. it is really good to sit on, no over-leaning forward, just comfy. it has a pretty low seat height too.
he reckons its a mono machine
and he loves it.
i havent ridden it but i nearly did last friday.... i couldnt get past the 'wanker in blundstones, shorts and a fluro shirt hooning round everywhere after a few brewskis' and/or the headline, "fluro man eats parked car and uses powerpole for a toothpick'...idea out of my mind
so i declined.
im thinking about (in the back of my mind anyway) getting one with a similar set up, but i havent really started to act on it till now......
maybe this is a sign!!
whatever ya get bro, do ya homework
**
and throw some mx bars on it
your brother,

Re: Question????????
Wouldn't be good for Dan for his rego requirements but a 1200 Bandit is an awesome bike to learn how to chuck a mono on.
I used to ride with a guy who had a 900 bandit and the bike made him look good! Then again my old VFR400 Honda was a weapon of a bike an uber reliable despite the flogging and lack of service.
A CB600F would be a great bike too methinks.

Re: Question????????
After doing a bit more research I am kind of liking the look of a ZZR-600 (thats today and will surely change)
Another question, which is probably a no brainer.
Sell your bike with the fruit or remove the fruit and take it back to near standard? Whats more appealing and whats better for re-sale?

I wont be wanting to keep any of the dirt bike add-ons if I buy a road bike and reckon I can make more money by selling the bikes near standard and off loading the fruit on fleabay.

Re: Question????????
I just sold the exhaust that came with my brother's KTM for $400 on ebay! I took it off my bike after one ride because it was too noisy and its been sitting in the shed since and thought I'd only get about $50 tops
